The Band

Lead Vocals/Bass/Keys
Chris
Early Beginnings Chris’s musical journey kicked off at age 12, when his father handed him his very first guitar and taught him those first three essential chords. From that moment on, music became the heart and soul of his life. He dove headfirst into high school garage bands, honing his craft and igniting a passion that would fuel decades of performance. Rise to the Road Originally hailing from the Boston area, Chris spent 1987 to 1992 lighting up venues all over New England. In 1992, the big break he’d been chasing arrived: an invitation to join a nationally touring show band. For years, he racked up miles—from Maine’s rocky coast to Florida’s sandy beaches, out to California’s Pacific waves, and everywhere in between. It was on that relentless road schedule that Chris learned the power of discipline, especially when it comes to the business side of music. Wedding Business & Relocation After years on tour, Chris returned east to settle down and bring his talents to the wedding circuit. From the late ’90s into 2014, he became a fixture in wedding entertainment—delivering unforgettable celebrations and sharpening his skills as a consummate professional. In 2014, a new adventure began when he relocated to the Washington, D.C. area. Immersing in the DC/Baltimore Scene Within months of moving, Chris had embedded himself in the vibrant D.C. and Baltimore live-music community. He joined multiple bands, expanded his stylistic range, and met drummer Geoff in 2019. Their chemistry was immediate: they’ve been creating high-energy shows together ever since. The Ultimate Tribute: The Police In the winter of 2024, Chris crossed paths with Jason during a separate project. Late-night chats about dream gigs led to a fateful question: “If you could tribute any band, which would it be?” Jason’s instant answer—“THE POLICE!”—set everything in motion. Geoff was on board right away, and the trio embarked on what Chris calls the most challenging musical endeavor of his career. Today, Chris thrives on the intensity and precision demanded by The Police’s repertoire. Working alongside Jason and Geoff, he’s inspired daily to push his musicianship to new heights. Together, they deliver electrifying performances that honor one of rock’s greatest acts—and Chris can’t wait to keep the energy rolling for years to come!

Guitar
Jason
Jason started in music at the age of 9 with classical piano lessons, but his parents would also blast the Eagles, The Beatles, Joni Mitchell and Fleetwood Mac in the evenings. The first record he bought was a 45 RPM of “Ramblin’ Man” by the Allman Brothers, so it was quite natural to switch to guitar at age 14 after hearing Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, Van Halen, and ZZ Top (as well as many others in that vein). After a few years, he was exposed to jazz and fusion and became very interested in guitar players such as Danny Gatton, Kenny Burrell, Joe Pass, Jeff Beck and the music of Steely Dan. Somewhere along that timeline he was exposed to The Police, hearing “Don’t Stand So Close To Me” – he was hooked and began buying their albums. Their musicianship and unique blend of Rock, Jazz, Punk and Reggae makes The Police a mesmerizing ‘desert island’ band. After high school, Jason received a B.A. in Music from The George Washington University, and went on to play in many bands, as well as teaching, writing, recording, and producing & engineering recordings. Musical engagements of note include tours of the East Coast playing original music, as well as extended engagements the Caribbean (Puerto Rico, Saint Croix, USVI). Like most guitarists, Jason is an avid guitar gear enthusiast… and it is likely that he has more pedals than his wife has shoes.

Drums
Geoff
Geoff (Jeff) Easthope hails from the outskirts of London in the UK. Growing up as a child he remembers the first time he picked up a drumstick and let it fall on a small drum. “It just bounced right back” he remembers. “The feeling was kind of magical”. That moment sparked a fascination that would shape his life. He started his “professional” musical career at age 14 playing weekends with much older musicians in local restaurants. It was a place to gain valuable experience even if the music was not to his taste. His early influences were from the British progressive rock scene and featured such bands as ELP, Yes, and the Nice. He soon discovered The Who and the inimitable Keith Moon and there was no turning back. Upon completion of high school, he went straight into playing full time and was excited to be earning a living as a musician. Unfortunately, this was right while Disco was gripping the nation, and his life became a monotonous thudding of “four on the floor” all night. ‘Very uninspiring, but it did give me an impeccable sense of time”, he recalls. It was the push-back against disco that ushered in such counterrevolutionary bands as the Police, with whom he became aware of through his younger brother who was just starting” to show an interest in other things besides football. “At first I lumped them in with other new wave/punk bands of the time and dismissed them”, he recalls. However, it soon became clear that they were a band unlike any other. Sting was obviously a true poet and the collective talents of all three members resulted in a sum greater than its parts. Copeland’s playing was fresh and aggressive and blended ska and reggae and other more traditional rock beats to produce something unheard of at the time. Fast forward to today and after years of performing everything except this kind of music Geoff was excited about the challenge. “it’s not until you try to play a whole night’s worth of these tunes that you really appreciate how different this music is”, he recounts. “Everything feels upside down and the hardest thing is remembering not to come down hard on the ‘one’ all the time.”. Additionally, getting to play with the likes of Jason and Chris in Shiny Metal Boxes has been such a joy. They are both tremendously talented and it’s been such a blast working with them to knit the sound together. This latest project is just one of several that he is currently working on and the result is that he is busier than ever behind the kit. “The challenge becomes finding enough empty spots on the calendar”, he muses. “Still, at this stage in my playing career, it’s a nice problem to have”.
